Dr. Robert W. Hobson II Award
for Best Abstract Poster Presentation
The
Georgetown University Hospital Diabetic Limb Salvage Conference announces
the Dr. Robert W. Hobson II Award for Best DLS Abstract Poster Presentation.
Winners will receive: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $200.
The Award is named for the noted vascular
surgeon, researcher and medical educator who passed away January 2,
2008. In a distinguished professional career that spanned more than
four decades, Dr. Hobson made important and lasting contributions to
vascular surgery and to limb salvage.
After receiving his medical degree
from George Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Hobson completed the
vascular fellowship at Walter Reed Army Hospital under Dr. Norman Rich.
He served with the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War
and was retired from the U.S. Army Medical Reserve as a colonel. Best
known for his many years as the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University
of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Hobson
served as president of the major vascular societies including the SVS,
EVS and SCVS. His major interests were cerebrovascular disease, the
physiology of the microcirculation, and lower extremity revascularization.
He edited five textbooks and authored more than 100 book chapters and
375 articles in professional journals. Dr. Hobson was truly the consummate
physician, combining excellence in patient care, teaching and research.

RULES FOR
SUBMISSIONS OF ABSTRACTS
Author Name(s) The submitting
author is designated as the presenting author and
must be listed first. All other authors should be listed
thereafter. Each institute or affiliation represented
by the authors should be listed.
Abstract Title • An
abstract must have a short, specific title (containing
no abbreviations) that indicates the nature of the investigation.
Abstract Format • Abstracts
should use the Purpose, Methods, Results and Conclusion format. • Describe
briefly the purpose of the study. Include a brief
statement of Methods. State Findings in
detail sufficient to support Conclusions.
Abstract Text • All
abstracts and poster presentations must be in English • Standard abbreviations may
be used without definition. Nonstandard abbreviations (please keep
to a minimum) must be placed in parentheses after the first use
of the word or phrase abbreviated. • Do not include
references, credits or grant support. • Do
not include the names or personal information of any patient participating
in the study or trial. • Abstracts are strictly
limited to 250 words including title and all author-facility
related information • Any table should be placed at
the end of the abstract. Author/Facility information will
not be counted in the 250 word abstract limit. Graphics or
illustrations are encouraged for presentation at the conference
session. Proofread abstracts carefully to avoid
errors before submission.
Deadline • Abstracts
must be submitted by August 30,
2010.
Abstract Acceptance • Acceptance
notification will be sent via e-mail before 4
September 2010, and will be posted on the DLS Website. • Abstracts
are selected on the basis of scientific merit • Selected
abstracts will be considered for publication. • Expenses associated
with the presentation of an abstract are the responsibility of
the presenter. • Presenting/submitting authors must
register and pay registration fees for the conference. Presenting
fellow’s, resident’s, or student’s registration
will be waived only if accompanied by appropriate documentation
from the program director.
Abstract Presentation • All
accepted abstracts will be poster presentations. Poster
size 4x8 horizontal. |
